Not riding at all.

Due to my injury I haven't been riding, its getting bored, but wells, went to the docs, took an x-ray and hey, its only a crack so its fine, and I can be on my bike again like now. Oh and the medical bills wasn't insane either, polyclinic had improved their serving time surprisingly, took me only about 2 hours to get everything done and it cost less than $30.00.

Wanted to hit the trails yesterday, geared up, pumped my bike and upon pedalling out of my block, it started raining. Was a good choice to head back home, cause it started pouring and didn't stop till evening.

Spend my day watching Where the Trail Ends again and Fabien Barel Presents, and of course its the Wednesday where there's a new episode of Life Behind Bars (new episode every 2 weeks on Tuesday/Wednesday if your in SG). You can view it here:

Life Behind Bars - Episode 14

Check out the movie here or download it via iTunes! Its worth the money.

Riding Alone & Spotting Undead

Needed a relaxation ride, so geared up and went out for one.

And shamefully, I just realised how the NE Riverine PCN is connected today. There's actually a way from Seng Kang Riverside Park that brings you to the opposite of Marina Country club. Well about the details you gotta ride yourself to find out.

Went along that trail and ended up along the coast, where I usually fish.

Continued riding down the Punggol Nature Walk which is also a good beginners' XC trail, somewhere to get your wheels dirty in a casual way.

Rested at my usual spot at Lorong Halus before heading home (enjoying the chilled water from the water cooler as usual).

On a side note, came by this sick bike while browsing MTB videos on Youtube. It turned out to be the Evil Undead Carbon. Check out this monster.

Shredding: With Love

Went cycling with my <3 today and really enjoyed it. Though I'm unable to hit the trails now due to my injury, I'm still glad that I can go on a casual ride with my baby.

Our rides @ Punggol Riverside Walk

We went our usual route to Punggol riverside walk, crossing the bridge to Lorong Halus and to Pasir Ris. Had a few stops for rest and baby changed her pedals from some crappy ones to flats. Moreover, its in pink, hence I guess she's pretty stoked. Had  tea break at Mcdonalds after, then continued cycling towards Changi.

Something drastic happened on the way, baby crashed hard and bruised herself all over, the rear rim of her fixie was ruined. Had to patch her up and did some on spot maintenance to the bike. Nevertheless, we continued riding and visited the bike shop at Changi Village, which aligned the rim for her. The bike shop was pretty unique, though not distributing any major brands, they actually had 2 pretty cute cats hanging around in the shop. Now her fixie has free gear, which is in terms safer for herself as her feet is no longer bound by the fixed crank which affected her pedalling. We moved on and finally arrived at the beach!

Riding to the sunset
Sat at some benches and watched the air planes, sun set and view. Was able to see Pulau Tekong from there, hence bringing back lots of memory regarding the days of my National Service (in Singapore, male citizens have to serve 2 years National Service as conscripted soldiers).  Headed back and had a sumptuous dinner at Changi Village (Buffet BBQ & Steamboat). After, we headed back home, and the return trip was definitely less dramatic and faster.

That'll be all for the day, sorry for the lovey-dovey post. Not an epic shredding experience, but wells I enjoyed it. It's just fun doing things you like with your love ones.

some cool stuff.

Well firstly, congratulations Dan Atherton for winning the Super Enduro Pro 6 Finale Ligure! Full coverage can be read on the GT site.

Secondly, a little late I know, but I'm glad that Kurt Sorge won the Red Bull Rampage 2012, and Brandon Semenuk took the 2012 FMB world tour overall title. Though Brandon had his bad days at diamond events, he still managed to grab the overall title again, 2 consecutive years now. Oh wait, GOD DAMN TREK, their riders took all the overall title for Elite Men's DH/FMB World Tour for 2011 and 2012!

Well after all the "you don't say" stuff I've talked about in this post, chill out with some pilgrimage in Japan.

Fixie for my fiancée

After much research in a field of fixies that I'm not knowledgeable in, we finally decided to purchase one from this store at Ang Mo Kio, Scootz. It is not easy locating the store, as its right under some HDB blocks (FYI if your not Singaporean, HDBs are the flats that most Singaporean resides).

Overall, the service-staff, if I'm not wrong, his name is Kentley, was pretty friendly. Answered most of our queries and provided us with some insightful comments regarding fixies and bothered to offer us free gifts and putting on the bar tapes for the bike (very anal). On a side note, the shop has awesome air conditioning, which is hardly seen in any other bike shops.

My fiancée viewed and tested some of the bikes, and we decided to buy the Dura Fixie. Colour's pretty sweet as its white with nice decals, similar to my DH 2.0. Fixies are pretty fascinating, as you can not only brake them, but also coast them causing it to drift, but its a really gnarly stunt to pull off.

Well here's the picture of the bike and my fiancée.

Matching my bike perfectly...

All and all we were happy with the purchase, well at least now she doesn't get out-run when we go riding.

The Deadly Monster?

After reading an article published yesterday by New York Times, regarding 5 deaths related to the consumption of Monster Energy, I can't help but think twice while buying my next can of Monster.

However, to be fair to Monster, the 5 deaths had "possible links" to the energy drink, it did not directly caused their death. There are no other dis-closed details on other affecting factors, such as drugs and alcohol.

To be honest, anyone in the right mind, and not doing any vigorous exercise for the day, should not be drinking more then 1 can of Monster (even if you like the taste). It isn't your regular soft drink. And FYI, gaming is NOT A SPORT, don't drink that much high caffeine energy drinks just because your doing e-sports, you will be the 6th. None the less if you have heart disorders, stay away from high caffeine products.

Snap back to happy stuff, Aaron Gwin's race-worn, signed and framed jersey is up for grab on Pink Bike.

In case you don't know who he is, he is the Elite Men's Overall Title winner for 2 consecutive years (2011 & 2012). More details about Aaron Gwin.

Loots and the Looks

I realized the importance of good safety equipment after several bad experiences.

Hence, bought myself the Fox Flux. Pretty dope looking helmet, works and look better than my previous crappy one.

Fox Flux Camo
Stoked with my new helmet, covers the back of my head and stuff. Well since I'm at Xtreme Rated, figure that I should grab some other stuff than just the helmet, which ended being a Fox pouch.

Fox Flux and the pouch
Despite all the loots, guess what, Singpost dialled, and my package has been found, as for the content of the package? More riding gear.

Clothes, hats, decals and grips

Well that was a lot of mountain biking stuff for one weekend, did some pimping for my bike, with the help of my missus of course, credits to her for designing my label.

The Label

After some pimpin'

More Label

Will probably make my first trailing experience with the dh 2.0 at a proper trail this weekend. Stay tuned.

Down on the step down

Visibility was low, line was wet, yet I attempted the jump.

Result, a gnarly crash. There's now a spiking ache whenever I bent down, put my chest forward or cough.

Well, better luck next time, will definitely be back to attempt that jump when the sun's shining.

Some pics of the aftermath of the crash.

The dent created from the impact of my wheels

Bike's fine, but full of mud.

Premium Rush

Have you watched Premium Rush? The movie talks about the messengers of NY City, and how they risk their lives on the line for speedy delivery of the packages entrusted to them.

Joseph Gordan-Levitt stars as Wiley, a messenger that rides a fixie. Lots of bike actions are featured in the movie, in particular there's a sequence which a familiar name to our ears was used as a double for Wiley, Danny MacAskill.

An article stating that Danny was in the movie.

Danny: “I take a run and then jump up onto a long line of jersey barriers, and then jump up from those up onto the top of the van and onto a cherry picker. Ride down the boom of the cherry picker and then, as I land, there’s a fence, which is about 2½ feet in front of me.  I’ve got to body hop over that and then zoom around some other cars and then go up onto a flatbed truck. From there, I hop onto the roof then down onto a walkway. At the end, after I come off the roof onto the long walkway, I jump from that off a car.”

Totally stoked being able to grab this new DH bike. Was wanting a DH bike real bad ever since I started shredding. Here's some pics of my new bike, really sick.

Will be back with more.

The Rampage Hype

Red Bull Rampage is hitting in this weekend, make sure to catch it Live at Redbull TV.

A few things to really look out for at this year's Rampage. Brandon Semenuk and Martin Soderstrom will have their showdown and determine which one of them would claim the 2012 FMB World Tour Overall title.
© bikemag.com
After 2 disappointing runs in the Red Bull Joyride (crashing both), Semenuk will be on fire for Rampage, he has to, in order to secure himself the Overall title for 2 consecutive years.

© Martin Soderstrom

Soderstrom has been consistent this season, and will stand a chance to contend for the overall title if he manages to hold it up for Rampage, which looks pretty sweet now looking at how he preps his Status for it.

Riders to watch will be Cam Zink, the defending champion, Darren Berrecloth, Cam Mccaul and Thomas Genon, the winner for 2012 Red Bull Joy ride.

My Evolution of Rides

This blog will be all about the shredding that I'm doing and that I'm a fan of. I will also be covering stories about mountain biking events such as the UCI World-Cup races and FMB World Tour events.

Ever since early this year I'm obsessed with mountain biking, and had swapped three bikes so far. Here's some picture of them, pretty sweet (to me at least):

Haro Flight-line 2

Polygon Collossus Ax 2.0

And now...
Giant Trance X4

That'll be all for tonight, more updates on its way. Stay tuned.
